Research has shown CoVid-19 to be a slow moving virus. 5 days is the average time it takes from exposure to first symptoms. Medicine is most effective when you start treatment early in the course of a disease.

CoVid-19 most commonly migrates from Hands -> Nose -> Throat -> Lungs. Health efforts have emphasized the hands and the lungs. This article will focus on the critical middle stage of viral migration. These are natural home hygiene techniques you can follow to improve the defenses in your nasal and throat passages before the virus has a chance to spread.

  1. Nasal irrigation
    1. A nasal rinse washes mucous out of your nasal cavity. Mucous is full of immune cells that are cleaning out the infectious garbage; but if mucous lingers for too long, it gives the infection an opportunity to spread
    1. Wash out your nasal passages with salt water up to 2x / day, especially after contact with people. Check out a demonstration here. You can purchase ready-made nasal sprays over the counter or make your own with lukewarm water and fine grain sea salt in a netti pot. A higher salt to water ratio is more anti-microbial but also tends to irritate the nasal passage.
  2. Throat saltwater gargle
    1. Much like the nasal rinse, a salt water gargle washes mucous out of the throat preventing the infectious material from proliferating
    1. Gargle with saltwater up to 2x / day, especially after contact with people. Mix 1 tsp of fine grain sea salt with lukewarm water and gargle in your throat for at least 30 seconds. Hack out any mucous that may be lingering. Chase with a glass of water or juice afterward to washout the salt water taste.
  3. Raw honey throat coating
    1. Honey is a broad spectrum anti-viral, antibiotic, and antifungal. It has been shown to inhibit replication of the influenza virus. Additionally, it is a superfood that benefits the whole body as an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. Make sure to use raw honey, and if possible, Manuka honey, which has the most clinical evidence.
    1. Take a healthy teaspoon of room temperature honey and allow it melt down the back of your throat at least 1x / day. Try not to swallow it right away so that the honey may slowly coat the entire throat. Ideally perform the honey coating after the salt gargle to eliminate any throat irritation caused by the salt.
  4. Essential Oil inhalation
    1. Essential oils (EO) are strong oil extracts of plants not for internal use. Energetically they are Drying, which helps counteract the Damp energetics of CoVid-19. While inhalation of any essential oil is helpful as most are anti-inflammatory and antioxidants, the following have research exhibiting anti-viral properties: eucalyptus, thyme, tea tree, rosemary, and clove.
    1. Inhalation treatment is up to 3x / day, especially after contact with people. There are a variety of methods that you may employ to achieve inhalation
      1. Mix in with massage oil in a ratio 1 part EO : 30 parts massage oil and massage onto chest and external throat
      1. Mix in with petroleum jelly or a base oil such as jojoba ratio 1:30 and apply onto external upper lip
      1. Add 5 drops to essential oil diffusers. Take at least 5-10 deep breaths of the steam
      1. Create your own steam inhalation kit by adding 5 drops of EO to a bowl of boiling water. Lean over the bowl and cover head with towel to trap the steam. Breathe the steam in deeply for at least 5 minutes. Click here for a demonstration
