With the passing of labor day, we enter the ‘back-to’ season, back to school back to work, back to take-in and processes what we have done out in the world over the course of the year. Remember that job we sought? or relationship we entered? or mountain we climbed?
Fall is a time to ‘take-in’ and processes those experiences using our senses and thoughts respectively. As the outer light dwindles, our inner light of consciousness arises. Salts are the conductor of this inner light. When a meal tastes a little bland, adding a bit of table salt can alert the senses to detect more flavor. Our neurons use the salt gradients of sodium and potassium to conduct the light of consciousness around our body (nerve conduction literally emits light).
While our five head senses take in the outside world, our kidney / adrenal complex is tasked with sensing the interior state of our body. It responds to different states of alertness raising and lowering blood pressure, arousal, and blood sugar. The kidney like the brain is a heavily innervated sense organ as anyone who has been punched in the low back can attest, and is also responsible for salt / fluid balance In the body.
So in this ‘back-to’ season fueling your kidney and brain sense organs with the proper salt nutrition is essential. Most processed foods contain only one salt ‘table-salt’, chemically sodium chloride. The issue being that your body depends on hundreds of different salt compounds for proper functioning. – iodine for thyroid function, potassium for heart rhythm, calcium for muscle contraction, etc. Most naturally sourced salts contain necessary micronutrients in proper balance such a dead sea salt or Himalayan pink salt. So make sure to incorporate natural salts into your daily routine season for to cultivate clear inner light.
*Like with all nutrition moderation is key. Especially those who suffered from blood pressure dysregulation. Those individuals are advised to consult with a physician before modifying their salt intake.*
